French fashion brand Sézane has opened a new boutique at 1045 Madison Avenue on Manhattan's Upper East Side, continuing the company's expansion of its physical retail presence in the United States.

The boutique opened on October 2 and becomes Sézane's third permanent New York location, joining existing stores in Nolita and Williamsburg.

The approximately 2,800-square-foot store continues Sézane's L'Appartement retail concept, which is designed to feel more like a Parisian residence than a conventional fashion boutique.

The interior was developed with Paris-based designer Pierre Lacroix and incorporates vintage furniture, books, artwork and residential-style rooms intended to bring the brand's French identity into the physical shopping experience.

From digital-first brand to U.S. retail network

Founded by Morgane Sézalory, Sézane initially built its business as a digital-first fashion company. Its growing network of American boutiques shows how the brand is increasingly complementing online distribution with permanent physical destinations in key U.S. markets.

New York has become an important part of that strategy. With stores now spanning downtown Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Upper East Side, Sézane is building a broader physical footprint across distinct New York customer groups and neighborhoods.

Why this matters for Scaling in America

Sézane is a useful example of a European digital-first consumer brand using physical retail to deepen its position in the American market. Rather than relying solely on e-commerce, the company is investing in permanent stores that allow U.S. customers to interact directly with the brand.

The Madison Avenue opening also highlights a broader expansion pattern for European consumer companies in America: establish demand digitally, build brand awareness, and then use carefully selected physical locations to strengthen customer relationships and create a more durable local presence.
