Neko Health opens first U.S. clinic with 25,000 New Yorkers waiting
The Swedish health-tech company founded by Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne has opened in SoHo, marking the first step in a broader U.S. expansion.

Swedish health-tech company Neko Health has officially opened its first U.S. location in SoHo, New York, bringing its technology-driven preventive health scan to America for the first time. Demand was already substantial before the doors opened: more than 25,000 New Yorkers had joined the waitlist ahead of the September 24 launch.
The opening gives Neko Health, founded by Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek and entrepreneur Hjalmar Nilsonne, a physical foothold in the world's largest healthcare market. More importantly, New York is not intended to be a one-off experiment. The company describes the SoHo clinic as the first of multiple planned locations across New York City and the wider United States.
From Stockholm to SoHo
Neko Health opened its first clinic in Stockholm in 2023 and subsequently expanded across Sweden and into the United Kingdom. The company says more than 100,000 people across Sweden and the UK have now experienced its health scan, giving it an established European base before entering the U.S.
Its first American clinic is located at 300 Lafayette Street in SoHo. The Neko Health Scan costs $499 and is designed as a 60-minute preventive health experience combining proprietary scanning technology, on-site testing and a consultation with a clinician.
What happens during the $499 scan
The visit includes a 360-degree skin examination using thousands of images, cardiovascular measurements, body composition analysis and on-site blood testing covering more than 50 biomarkers. The physical scan takes roughly 30 minutes, followed by approximately 30 minutes with a clinician who reviews the results and discusses potential next steps.
Neko has developed its medical devices, hardware, software and clinical systems in-house. The company positions this vertically integrated approach as a way to combine large amounts of health data into a single preventive healthcare experience rather than relying on separate tests and appointments.
“New York is the starting point.”
New York is only the beginning
The SoHo launch is the first stage of a much broader American rollout. Neko says additional New York locations and a Miami clinic are expected to follow, while Washington, D.C. and San Francisco are also planned.
That expansion is backed by significant new capital. In July 2026, Neko Health announced a $700 million Series C financing led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and co-led by O.G. Venture Partners ahead of its U.S. launch.
Why this matters
For Neko Health, the New York opening represents the transition from a European health-tech company into a business pursuing a multi-city American footprint. The 25,000-person pre-launch waitlist also gives the company an unusually visible signal of early consumer interest as it enters the U.S. market.
It is also a notable example of a European technology company taking a consumer-focused healthcare model developed in Europe and attempting to scale it in the United States. With New York serving as the entry point and Miami, Washington and San Francisco already identified for future expansion, Neko's American ambitions extend well beyond its first SoHo clinic.
